I looked at this XKCD comic and I knew what the punchline was on the SECOND ROW.
There is no site more addictive.

Some discussion regarding Torchwood C of E and some cold facts regarding narrative structure/resolution:
( Spoilers for everything )

I just saw something about a local event thingy that will provide some free medical services for those who are unemployed. At the end it states, "You must provide proof of unemployment."
...
"Yeah, here's a photo of me sittin' on the couch playing Nintendo yesterday afternoon. See the timestamp? Two p.m."

Check it out!!

Note, there seems to have been some confusion, these are not my items, they are items by other people that I like. But by clicking on the link and checking out the pages of the items, it gets moved further up the list and has more of a chance to get onto the front page of Etsy, where my username will also be.
If you feel weird about promoting my stuff, I really do like all of the items in the treasury and they are worth a look. Etsy is full of so many talented people!!

Torchwood, I'm just 13 episodes away from finishing Avatar and I'm also trying very hard to get some writing done; did you have to have a mini-marathon this week? You couldn't have checked my schedule first? Nooooo, you couldn't, could you. I can't even save the episodes for later because I won't be able to read half my flist's posts, that's all anyone's talking about.
But Children of Earth is a great deal of fun. Shouldn't be complaining. I'm a little bewildered as to why everyone thinks it's the best Torchwood stuff evar; it's typical, solid Torchwood to me, which means it's fun and you've got to turn off your brain a bit and eat up the Captain Jack Bi-fabulous fanservice as it comes. Which I've never had a problem doing for Torchwood. MOAR BOYKISSING POPCORN PLZ.

There was a huge thunderstorm that rolled in and postponed the fireworks, but the clouds looked cool as hell. I took a bunch of pics and made them into a panorama:

Linked because it's huge.

Muppets aren't supposed to make you cry.

Josh brought something up the other day that hurt my head.
Let's say you want to live forever, or for a very long time (just say it). Someone invents a thing that can copy your brain and put it into a robot/computer that can perfectly simulate a human brain to allow you to live on. Cool?
Or not?
The issue is.. when you are copied and put somewhere else and then turned on, is it YOU being turned on, or something else that thinks it's you. Can YOU (the person siting there) ever TRULY live on as you wish you would, by being copied, or can only a separate entity who is exactly like you move on and live?
I guess this gets into the concept of a soul, which neither Josh nor I believe in, so for the sake or argument, lets say there is no soul. You are a big fat chemical reaction.
At first I thought, does it really matter? If you have no soul then you *are* just a computer with a brain, so putting your mind into another computer would be like moving a CD from one computer to another. But then I changed my mind and thought it was more like copying a file from a CD onto the computer. The CD will stay as it is, and the copy will go do it's own thing, even though it is exactly like the one on the CD, it is still a different thing.
So no, you can not live on by copying your brain into a computer that can run it. The only way you can live on is to preserve the physical brain.
..Then I got mad because I'd really like to live forever and that was one of the few ways I might have been able to do it, but no more. Thanks Josh.

I haven't seen this particular picture or its accompanying discussion anywhere on my flist, and I would have thought it would have polarized folk! Had to wait until I turned the pages of a magazine, what's up with that?
